My list of things to do for today was done last night. I had direction for today! But at 5 a.m. I was awakened by Maxie's cries....another seizure and a bad one this time. So, I had to give her attention till she calmed down and then went to wash the quilt she had been laying on. Opie was ready to go outside and snoop! When he came in again, he even talked Maxie into having breakfast. I decided to go back to sleep for an hour or so....but of course, after doing all that, I just couldn't get back to sleep. Well, first on the list was a load of laundry, but there was no water! Okay....well, then I decided to go outside and work in the lawn for a while, but it started to rain. Well, then I will make chocolate chip cookies...except I didn't have any butter. By then, it was already noon and time for Mariela to go to school, so I went outside to wait for the bus to pick her up. Mariela is 14, my neighbor's daughter, and has afternoon classes. I was going to make a hotdog for lunch so I decided there was time enough to walk down the street to the little store and buy some potato chips to go with the hotdog....the store was closed! Mariela and her Mom came out and we walked back to the store which was now open and I bought my chips but Mariela wanted a bottle of water and they had NO water. I went back in the house and heated my hotdog, got out the mayo and mustard and .....you probably guessed it.....no hotdog bun or white bread. Well, just a hotdog and chips had to do. No water for laundry, too hot and too many mosquitos to work outside in the afternoon, no butter for making cookies.......well, I will work on making pictures for albums and calendars which will be Christmas presents. And, the printer for the computer ran out of colored ink! So, I used the stand alone printer for a while....until I needed a picture that is in the computer files before I can use the stand alone printer. Do I dare try to do anything else today????? I guess I have made progress, though, in learning one lesson. When my plans don't work out just like I want them to, I just change my plans without getting upset!!! After all, my list of things to do can be revised......at least, this time!!!
Here I sit in front of the computer.....with less teeth and less money! The surgery was fast and easy. I was well able to drive home before the pain started. I did have lots of pain all day yesterday and through the night. Since I have just taken some Tylenol, it is much better right now. The only problem is that Tylenol takes about 30 min. to start helping and then begins to wear off after about 2 hours. I am thinking that the pain will be less and less now that we are through the first 24 hours. The other problem is that I am really hungry.....but can't eat much. Juice and jello are not very filling. I am going to try chicken broth later on but it has to be cool....doesn't sound really good. Tomorrow I can have mashed potatoes if they are made extra soupy. I am sure that by next week when I have my follow up appointment, I will be well on the way to recovery from this. It is really quite minor.....but ouch!!!
Well, the date has finally arrived for me to have oral surgery! Ugh! Tomorrow morning (8/12), I will have two extractions, imbedded roots removed and the jaw bone scrapped. That doesn't sound like fun! My temporary partial plate will be put in before I leave the office to protect that area....about 1 1/2 inch incision. I will be able to drive home and then will spend the rest of the day and probably Wednesday, resting and letting my mouth heal. So, the bottom line is that when I leave the oral surgeon's tomorrow, I will be three teeth-less and definitely money-less!!!! (Oh, yes, I will be quiet and not eating a whole lot for a couple days too!)
Well, we have a little bump in the road at my house. Maxie had a slight seizure yesterday. She seems to be fine today, just a little sleepy. She is alert, eating well, checking out all the house and neighborhood activities. I hope this is just a little bump in our road. It will be her 5th birthday on August 15th and we are planning an ice cream party for her! Also we have presents...actually a new outfit for Maxie and for Opie as birthday presents.....and as something new to wear when we go to Grammy and Grampy's house in Illinois!
